THE FIVE VIRTUES
Emotional wellness is critical to overall wellbeing and good health. Surprisingly, emotions can go unnoticed, not realizing that patterns in life can revolve around any one or combination of the five basic emotional states, Fear, Anger, Anxiety, Worry, or Grief. Emotional patterns that have been carved out for a long period of time can ultimately manifest in the physical body, affecting organs and cell structure.
These emotions can manifest both outwardly and inwardly, such as outward anger towards something or someone, or inward anger towards self. Subconsciously these emotions affect all aspects of life like a pinball bouncing off whatever you come in contact with. These patterns of emotion may seem like you have control of your life but you have actually relinquished it. By feeding into negative patterns in a sustained way for long periods of time, constant emotional distress can cause disease in the body, a weakened immune system, cellular dysfunction and poor quality of life.
Emotional wellness is determined by a deep level of consciousness of the self. It is a practice to be in control of your emotions, and but by having a clear perception of what you want your life to be like, by having compassion for yourself and others, by discovering your inner radiance, by being honest with yourself, and by having integrity, you can live your life in true control without fear of letting go of your past. Emotions are vibrations, when you align your vibrations, like a radio signal, you can set yourself on a new path towards excellent health and wellbeing and/or have the courage to create the life you dream of.
Past trauma trapped in the subconscious can manifest in many ways through your daily emotional patterns. By cutting cords to past emotional trauma and current emotional stressors, you can begin to pay attention to how your personal patterns adversely affect your life and other around you and then you can live consciously towards a better quality of life in body and mind.
Sessions start with testing for emotional patterns that are embedded in your energy, then purging these though energetic treatment, cutting emotional cords to past trauma. When you change your energy, you change your life and you can do this though being conscious of the Five Virtues, recognizing triggers and breaking repetitive patterns, and doing short meditations and prescriptive qigong exercises that can be part of your continued practice to manifest your best life.

WHY QIGONG Energy Work?
You can manifest the life you want by elevating your energy body. Chronic stress and/or stored emotional trauma can cause the body to tighten and blockages to form in your energetic matrix. Tai Chi is a very deep art with no finish line. At New York Tai Chi, we believe in teaching real Tai Chi in a short amount of time, reaping tremendous health benefits. Structural alignment, efficiency of movement, the various body states and energies of the art are some of the skills that will bring about the real benefits.
We teach a short form in order to avoid spending great amounts of time learning long sets of choreography without developing internal skills. Here we focus on developing that skill and particularly, the martial applications and health benefits. There are a lot of body states in Tai Chi that are next to impossible to teach with words alone. You must have an instructor that you can touch hands with. You need to feel and learn through direct transmission. Push Hands is the part of Tai Chi training that is also frequently missing from programs. Please be assured that Push Hands in our classes is very gentle.

Medical Qigong

Disruptions in the electromagnetic energy of the body occur throughout our lifetime as a result of poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, injuries, surgery, suppression of emotions, and aging. With Medical Qigong healing occurs through balancing qi or electromagnetic energy which surrounds and pervades all living creatures.
By correcting these bio-energetic imbalances and blockages in the physical body, energy body and spirit body, it strengthens and regulates the internal organs, the nervous system and the immune system, relieves pain, regulates hormones, and strengthens and releases deep-seated emotions and stress.

Medical qigong consists of working with a practitioner to regulate the client's qi. After the session, the client will be given qigong exercises to assist in their ongoing healing. Tailored specifically to the client, medical qigong exercises use physical movement, breathing methods and mental intention to correct and restore the function in the body. Both private and group classes for Qigong practice are available.
Like any other system of fitness or health care, qigong is a highly effective health care practice. Many health care professionals recommend qigong as an important form of complementary and alternative medicine.

Qigong Treatment Sessions
Qi can pass through air and clothing, so there is no need to disrobe. The practitioner often works about a foot away from the client's body, to guide and manipulate the movement of Qi. The client may feel varying sensations as the Qi moves, such as warmth, tingling, coolness, vibration, and sometimes twitching as the stagnant energy releases.
Generally, clients find the sessions extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. Sometimes clients may become aware of uncomfortable emotions that have been suppressed and have an emotional release either during or after the treatment. Trapped emotional blockages that are held in the body can ultimately manifest as physical disease. As one of the primary goals of Medical Qigong therapy is to release toxic emotions from within the body's tissues, having an emotional release is extremely beneficial to one's psychological and physiological well-being.
